VLJ Construction Services coordinates pavement striping for Florida roadway projects, parking lots, fire lanes, and specialty markings. We work to FDOT Standard Specifications Sections 710 (Painted Markings), 711 (Thermoplastic Markings), and 713 (Preformed Thermoplastic).
Striping Materials We Apply
- Thermoplastic — standard for FDOT highway, county arterial, and high-traffic commercial work; 4-8 year service life in Florida
- Waterborne paint — lower-traffic roads and parking lots; 12-24 month service life
- Preformed thermoplastic — specialty markings like school crosswalks, bike lane symbols, ADA accessible parking
- Retroreflective bead embedding for nighttime visibility compliance
Retroreflectivity Compliance
FHWA federal-aid highway minimum retroreflectivity is 50 mcd/m²/lux for white lines on roads with speed limits ≥40 mph. FDOT specifies initial retroreflectivity of 250+ mcd/m²/lux on new thermoplastic to maintain compliance over service life. Our applications meet or exceed FDOT spec, with retroreflectivity test documentation provided to prime contractors.
Common Striping Scopes
- Highway mainline striping (edge, center, and lane lines)
- Intersection markings (crosswalks, stop bars, arrows)
- Parking lot layouts (standard stalls, ADA accessible, fire lanes)
- School zone markings (crossings, bus loading, drop-off lanes)
- Industrial site safety markings (pedestrian crossings, equipment paths)
